  • Dr. Brent Agin

    Medical Director

    Dr. Agin, our medical director, is board certified in Family Medicine. He attended medical school at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Experienced in counseling and detoxification for both illicit drugs and prescription medications, Dr. Agin is one of a very select group of physicians certified in buprenorphine therapy. His research in nutrition and vitamin therapy supports an important component of our detox program.

  • Angela Damianakis

    Clinical Supervisor, MSW, LCSW

    Angela has spent her twenty-two year career helping those who need assistance. After graduating from Hoftstra University’s New College with honors, Angela entered the prestigious Adelphi University School of Social Work. Angela’s clinical skills are highly distinguished, having been cultivated through her varied work history to include: Licensed Psychotherapist in private clinical practice, Primary Therapist and Group Facilitator for a partial hospitalization program, Out Reach Counselor, Consumer Direct Care Provider, Senior Mental Health Practitioner for intensive on-site therapeutic services, and Independent Contract Therapist for group practice. Angela has worked as an activist for human rights internationally and has served on the Board of Directors for the Pasco Mental Health Foundation. She is a Sho Don (black belt) in Issinryu Karate and a three time marathon runner.

  • Judy Servidio

    Director of Nursing, RN, MSN

    Judy Servidio, RN, MSN, has more than 20 years experience in the healthcare field, with a focus in healthcare leadership and strategic direction. Judy has a wealth of experience in critical care, neurology, pain management and training. She received her Bachelor’s degree from St. Francis University and her Master’s of Science degree in nursing from Loyola University and is a member of the National Association of Professional Women. Because Judy experienced first-hand the impact that addiction has on the family, she played a pivotal role in getting a family member to seek treatment. After a 16-year career in the pharmaceutical industry and providing hope to her addicted family member, she seized the opportunity to build a compassionate and caring team of nurses. Her strong business and leadership backgrounds provide the opportunity to add to the Novus mission and culture.

  • Aaron Kapinsky

    Director of Operations NPR

    Aaron brings with him a passion for helping people overcome the struggles of addiction. He knows through personal experience the barriers and fear associated with achieving sobriety. Since achieving sobriety, Aaron has committed his life to helping others. Aaron is a seasoned manager with executive experience, having worked in long- term rehabilitation before coming to Novus. Aaron has brought with him that same attention to patient needs by getting to know and help the patients at Novus. His goal is to provide support and assistance while the Tech team ensures patients get the attention they need throughout the detox process. When not at work, Aaron spends time with his family, niece and nephews, and can be found in the gym most evenings.

  • Patricia Knight Mezzapelle, EN CEN

    Nurse Manager

    Having overcome her own struggles, Patricia joined Novus in 2015 in search of assisting those that struggled with addiction. After an earlier career in Sales and Marketing, it was after her own sister's life was saved that she changed her career direction to healthcare. That experience took her to emergency and trauma nursing, leadership and training. Having witnessed first hand the lack of quality care and resources for those seeking a future free of substance abuse, Patricia decided addiction nursing was an area in which she could make a difference. She shares Novus’s belief that the holistic approach has a place in treating addiction and detoxification and has a passion for naturals, oriental medicine and aromatherapy and particularly enjoys educating clients on the benefits of alternative treatments. As a member of the International Society of Addiction Nursing, she is an activist and passionate advocate for the treatment of addiction. When she isn’t attending her beloved Tampa Bay Bucs games as a season ticket holder or attending various sporting events, you can find Trish enjoying a camping trip with her husband, children and furr-kids; after all, her goal is to visit all 59 National Parks!

  • Megan Barnett

    Lead Case Manager

    Having witnessed the consequences of addiction in her own family, Megan comes to Novus with a true passion for contributing to the success of clients embracing a better future. She has lived and worked in the Tampa Bay area her entire life, and sought out a way to give back in her own hometown. Megan joined Novus in 2015 as a medical secretary and worked her way up to her present position as Lead Case Manager. She has found passion in every aspect of the industry and having a 13 year healthcare background has afforded her numerous opportunities at Novus. Megan specifically enjoys assisting clients in taking the next important steps in building a positive future and has built solid relationships with care partners across the state and nation. When not on the job, Megan enjoys being a mom, travel and paddle boarding the waters of Tampa Bay. When asked what the future holds for her, Megan is quick to say “Anything I can do to make a difference!”

  • David Krantzberg

    Admissions Manager

    David has invested over 25 years in leading highly energetic and positive teams in achieving personal and professional goals. His commitment to helping those in need, is evident in the manner in which he conveys this message to his team of Admissions Coordinators. David has a keen understanding of what families and friends experience when dealing with loved ones who are suffering and struggling with addiction. Previously, David graduated from the United States Air Force Aerospace Crash Recovery Program and subsequently served as Lead Firefighter at Sheppard Air Force Base, TX. When not assisting others, he can be found spending a great deal of time with his family and friends either near or on the water.

  • Hayden Potter

    Admissions Coordinator, CAP

    Hayden struggled with addiction for over ten years before he went to rehab in 2004. At the beginning of his treatment, he found himself resistive to sobriety but, around the halfway point, he saw the light and totally turned things around. Upon completion of the program, he was offered a counseling job and started his career in the addiction field. Hayden now has twelve years experience of working directly with hundreds of clients at the inpatient detox level. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree of Human Services and became licensed as a Certified Addiction Professional (CAP). Hayden has now dedicated his life to helping others.

  • Morgan Brown

    Admissions Coordinator

    Morgan obtained her B.A. in Psychology at Murray State University and dove into a career in social work. Upon relocating to California, she joined a non-profit focused on reducing the rate of homelessness in a region known for its drug culture. Morgan worked diligently to help her clients from the streets, to shelters, to permanent housing and a stable lifestyle. Such work involved intimate problem solving regarding addiction, trauma, and self destructive behaviors. These experiences inspired Morgan to switch gears and focus on the underlying issues that seemed to lead her clients down such wayward paths. Inspired by the mission of Novus and their dedication to helping those in need, Morgan joined the team and is eager to assist people in achieving a happy, healthy life.

  • Tyler Scotland

    Referral Coordinator

    Like too many others living in Florida during the opioid epidemic, Tyler’s story began with a history of prescription medication abuse. With the support of his family, friends and licensed professionals, Tyler began his journey to sobriety by entering a qualified treatment program. With hard work and a strong sense of determination and commitment, he successfully overcame his addiction. It was during this journey that Tyler recognized that he maintained a strong desire to give back to those struggling to gain sobriety by sharing his story and viewpoints with them. It was these interactions that provided Tyler with the greatest sense of personal satisfaction. He took this newfound talent and began his career in the field of addiction at a long term inpatient rehabilitation center. Tyler now serves as Novus’ Referral Coordinator in the Admissions Department assisting Partners and their clients who are seeking detox services.

  • Renee Rogers

    Client Services

    Renee received her Bachelors of Science in Marketing and Management, Magna Cum Laude, from Siena College in Loudonville NY. After years of traveling for business as well as pleasure, Renee became a statistic that she and her family never expected. She is one of millions that became dependent on prescription pain medications after surgeries and medical issues resulting from a serious car accident After overcoming her addiction she chose to dedicate her life to helping those that are still struggling. Prior to joining the Novus team, she was the Director of Admissions for a long-term treatment center, giving her the experience to see substance abuse from many viewpoints. When not traveling for work, Renee is a self-described homebody that enjoys discovering great food finds, seeking out shopping deals, and quality time with her fiancé and pets.

  • Kent Runyon

    VP Community Relations

    Kent has over 20 years of management experience and over 15 years of executive level experience developing and leading accredited social services programs addressing diverse human needs including addiction, homelessness, poverty, trauma, and family reunification. He came to Novus drawn by its mission and vision to help others and to pursue excellence in the field of recovery. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Ball State University and later received his Masters Degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University. He also completed a two year certified Executive Leadership Program sponsored by the University of Notre Dame – Mendoza College of Business.

  • Kim Hamm

    VP Finance

    Kim’s 20 year career includes more than 10 years of residential health care finance management. Her mission driven background has always revolved around helping others in need. Kim’s experience in business strategy, risk management and process improvement helps Novus deliver a high-quality yet cost-effective patient experience. Kim earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Florida and her MBA from Saint Leo University. Community minded, Kim currently serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for Leadership Pasco and is a member of Seven Springs Rotary and Rotary International. She also enjoys volunteering, judging pro BBQ contests and spending time outdoors with friends and family.

  • Andre Genao

    VP Human Resources, MHRM

    Andre has spent his entire Human Resources career in Healthcare and Human Services organizations, devoting himself to companies with a strong mission to give back to populations in need. After relocating from New York in 2012, Andre found himself in child welfare, partnering with leadership to address the needs of children in the Tampa Bay area before coming to the Substance Abuse treatment space at Novus. Holding both a Bachelors of Human Resources from State University of New York at Oswego and a Master’s of Human Resource Management from Keller Graduate School of Management, Andre partners with Novus leadership to drive strategic initiatives and help create an environment that makes Novus a leader in the Tampa Bay workforce community. When not at Novus, Andre spends his time with his wife and two small children and is an avid Martial Artist specializing in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
