Everything was great at my visit here.

I made the decision to come to Novus for medical detox because of use of prescription medications, narcotics for pain management, prior to surgery. At this point in time I am approaching two years clean from street drugs and had enough knowledge of my personal struggles with dependence on chemicals to know that I needed professional medical assistance to increase my chance of success to an acceptable level.
After my detoxification at Novus I feel physically strong enough to safely return home without medication.
Following detox, I plan to continue utilizing the tools for sustained recovery which have worked for me which include a 12 step program, proper self care such as adequate nutrition, exercise, sleep and healthy supportive relationships.

Everyone here was so nice and attentive and the atmosphere here is surprisingly positive and incredibly safe.
When I first got here I was dreading going through the whole withdrawal experience because of what I had seen on “Intervention” and other TV shows and movies. I was in total denial about what the meds were doing to me and how I was a totally different person on Oxy, like my entire personality had disappeared, without me even realizing it. I was shocked when I finally came out of withdrawal how the Oxy had dulled me and coming into this situation I thought that person was gone forever.
I am so thankful for Novus, I feel like you gave me my life back. I finally feel hopeful and truly believe I can have a life with chronic pain and it doesn’t have to be who I am, it doesn’t define me. I had believed it did for six years. I know I can thrive and be successful and can maybe even help others, experiencing what I’ve been going through, make the same revelations.

My stay at Novus was great. It felt more like a vacation than a detox. The staff was excellent. The food was wonderful. Everyone there really goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable at all times. The only bad thing about Novus is eventually you have to leave.

Before I came to Novus I was a major wreck. I was abusing opioids and benzos. I thought my life was going to crash, meaning never stop my addiction to drugs. I was very nervous coming to Novus not knowing what to expect. When I arrived, I was totally shocked. The staff here were incredible. Anything I needed they were there to help and do anything possible to help with any problem. The detox program was great because I was comfortable all the time. I never thought it would feel so good leaving here. I thank all the counselors, doctors, nurses, and cooks from the bottom of my heart for the time at Novus.

I came here to Novus Detox and was very sick. I was on Lortab and Oxycodone for 2 years. The reason I came to Novus was to get detoxed so I can go back to work without having to go through a rehabilitation program that takes usually 90+ days to complete. While I was here at Novus they made me realize that not only meds from a physician can help and there were other ways of dealing with pain and anxiety. For example, they showed me vitamins and explained what each vitamin helps with what was wrong with that certain person. I've been here for 8 days and they have helped me think in a new way that not only narcotics can solve the issue, but there are other methods of doing so.

Coming in was a big step for recovery. I was taking 180mg of oxycodone and 6 mg of Xanax per day. I was safely taken off both drugs in 8 days with minimal discomfort. I know this is just the first step but I believe I am strong enough to stay drug free and learn how to handle stress and anxiety and pain differently.
I also realized I am not alone. Many people I have met here, staff and patients, were extremely caring.
