What our Alcohol Detox patients say about Novus Medical Detox Center

(emphasis added in bold)

Everyone that works here is so great, very helpful and kind and really care about you and want you to get better.  Also they are funny and make you laugh and very loving.  I can't say enough good things about all the staff.  They are the best.

The food is the best I ever had and I am pretty good cook myself.  Food was healthy also.

The facility was very comfortable and clean.  They give you anything you need or want.  Cannot say enough good things.

I am so glad I made the decision to come here.  I feel so much better about myself.  I look better and it also makes my family happy.  But, I did this for me and it is the best thing I have ever done.  Anyone who needs help, this is the place to come.  You cannot beat it.  You will feel like a new person.  I know I do.  I cannot say enough good things about Novus.  I enjoyed being here and again just loved everyone here.  I feel very lucky for the first time in my life.  I did something good for me.

I feel the service was excellent.  I want to acknowledge every staff member that worked with me.  They were the friendliest people.

The food was amazing.

All that I can really say is that I have never had such a smooth, healthy, happy detox.  I feel amazing and look forward to continuing to stay clean.  I have a very positive attitude which I haven't ever had before after coming down.  The biggest win of all is I know I am and want to stay clean and am willing to do whatever I need to do that.

I found the establishment and staff to be the most professional and effective that can be found.  Although this is a detox facility the counselors are still there when you have a problem or need to talk.

Fine restaurant quality Food.

The primary realization I have come to is that I don't need alcohol to make it through each day and bad situation.  If I won anything, it is getting detoxed and on the road to a "normal” life.  My decision is to seek further help to remain sober.

My stay at Novus was made as comfortable as possible due to the circumstances of my visit.  I would recommend your center to anyone needing any kind of substance treatment.  As a matter of fact I wouldn't mind staying longer if my time permitted.  It's nice to be wined and dined, “so to speak”.

I believe to single out one person would be a disservice to everyone else – not one person could I say anything negative about.  I truly believe the staff is Novus' biggest asset.

The food was prepared and served with more care than most restaurants I've eaten at since I left home and been on vacation in downtown Ft. Lauderdale.  Congratulations.
Being at Novus has been my first medically monitored detox.  It has made me more aware of my dependence of alcohol (the seriousness of it).  I have put my wife through this several times and believe it's a lot to ask her to put up with, especially in view of all the great and dedicated people involved in my stay here.  It comes down to either “get it under control” or “quit”.

As of writing, I feel that I'm totally back on my feet but two weeks behind work.  The anxiety is also a very tough part of this.  Thank you for giving me the ability to get back at it.

I wouldn't change a thing – fantastic experience all around

Very accommodating to special needs – even got me sugar free cookies so that I could have something sweet – very caring and supportive.

My stay at Novus was the best decision I've ever made.  I had gastric bypass surgery 4 years ago and over the last year and a half have developed an alcohol problem. Only drinking small amounts of white wine turned into a daily obsession for me – morning to night.  After doing extensive research I found out that my body/mind was so out of whack due to the malnutrition from the surgery, (I didn't take care of myself as I should have as alcohol was taking over my mind), I sought psychiatric help and was put on medication after medication and just continued in a downward spiral.  I was severely dehydrated, malnourished and lacking so many essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids that my mind and body could not function properly.  I could have gone through 10 more rehabs but without this “full body and mind replenishment” I would never have gotten better.  I understand now how important proper hydration, nutrition and supplementation is to our minds and bodies and I plan on continuing to follow this regimen for life.  I also understand that alcohol is not a necessary part of life and that it totally wreaks havoc on a person's body especially on someone who has had gastric bypass surgery!!

I look forward to getting the word out to other alcohol/gastric bypass patients on what is actually going on with their bodies – I've learned so much from my stay at Novus and am so grateful to everyone for helping get back to the old me!

I also look forward to working with Dr. Agin and using the injectable vitamin regime.

Everyone during my stay was extremely pleasant and accommodating from maintenance and kitchen staff, to nurses, counselors and doctor.

The kitchen staff and food was fantastic!  They accommodated special requests.  Also if patients were not ready to eat at specified times, their prepared meals were put in the fridge.

1) My success going forward is my responsibility.
2) Continue to utilize tools (i.e., AA meetings, sponsor, AA network, 12 step program, etc.).
3) Keep busy.
4) Reflected on past accomplishments and dry periods.  I have great expectations to enjoy this good life clean for the rest of my life.
5) Make daily contact with dry and clean friends.
6) Continue to look for a better job after a period of stable dry time.
7) Continue volunteer work.
8) Any further failures are not an option.

It has been fantastic.  I was very nervous about the alcohol detox process.  The staff was very welcoming and reassuring.  I was extremely concerned about my hypertension, the staff monitored me closely which made me feel safe.

Very comfortable homelike atmosphere.

I truly needed help to detox successfully; Novus was the perfect choice.  I realize that I will go home to the same stressors that led me to drink, however, I now feel empowered with a clear mind to address problems/issues one at a time.  Loneliness is not good for me.  I need to take the time to do things I enjoy, exercise, reading, participating in child advocacy groups.  With the counselors advice I will change my gym/workout times to the afternoons after work, this is the time of day I would drink, so changing the schedule will help me modify behaviors.

I will most definitely continue the Emergen-C drinks and vitamin supplements.

The discharge planning was comprehensive.  I have appointments scheduled and feel confident that I will stay on the right road.

I never imagined that the detox experience would be so comfortable.  The staff treats all clients with respect and compassion.  They also treat each other with respect.  This goes a long way from a patient perspective, it demonstrates that the kindness and compassion and commitment to comfortable detox is a sincere and united effort.
Thank you for giving me my life back and reminding me that I have many happy times ahead.  More importantly, thank you for helping me realize although life will throw us curve balls, the mind and body can conquer obstacles without alcohol.

At first I was extremely nervous about my decision to come to Novus.  When I first arrived I was still quite worried, but as the day went by, my feelings rapidly changed.  I can't express enough the warm and friendly attitude of the staff.  Day two I was already feeling as part of a wonderful family; not one member of the Novus staff made me feel uncomfortable.  There was definitely a feeling of true friendship with my new family.  They made a tough job easy for me to overcome.  I could not thank them enough.  Tomorrow I will be leaving and I already miss this entire group of great people.  They went as far as taking me to a new approach to pain relief.  I suggest that anyone in pain visit this website, www.meilus.com.  I have not been pain free since 1995, and today April of 2009, I am.  (No drugs).

My realizations were that you are not alone and a change in lifestyle is the real answer to most of our problems.

Everyone has to make decisions in life. If you make the wrong or easy one, it is so easy to destroy a great family and isolate yourself for selfish reasons.

I will come away from Novus with my head on straight, knowing that I'm the only one that can change and enjoy my life without anything but love from my great family.

I was surrounded by kind, caring, compassionate and knowledgeable staff who were very supportive and encouraging.  Accommodations were very comfortable and clean.
There is hope for those who are discouraged, there is Novus!  I have the tools within me to make the right choices to better my life.

I came in immobilized by alcohol.  I realized if I did not stop I would die or lose everything I had.  The Novus detox was by far the best I had been to and hopefully the last.  All of the counselors were ready and willing to help while I was there and to help set up my aftercare.

At first I felt that I had perhaps made a mistake coming to a detox center so far away from home.  I made the decision while literally in a drunken/withdrawal stupor.  However, shortly after arriving at Novus, I realized that drunken decision has probably saved my life.  I am a stubborn, hard-headed person that does not take too well to those who would force ideas on me.  My experience at Novus was exactly the opposite of the above description.  I was treated with the utmost respect and would recommend Novus to anyone in need of the kind of services they provide.

Couldn’t imagine staying at a finer facility. Your comfort level is at a 10 which makes your recovery much easier.  You are taken care of by people who truly care about you and you quickly develop a bond with them.  Novus is the only place I would ever consider for treatment.
